Road closure alert: Mariposa Ave. partially closed this week

Sentinel Staff Report–
Mariposa Avenue will be closed to traffic this week from Cook Avenue to Old Auburn Road as construction work and scheduled tree trimming take place in the area.

The closure is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 24, through Friday, Aug. 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., according to the City of Citrus Heights.

The city said the closure is related to construction associated with a nearby housing project, along with scheduled tree trimming by the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD).

Preliminary development has been occurring at the corner of Church Lane and Old Auburn Road for several months, which has included utilities undergrounding, tree removal and grading of the property. The owner is tentatively proposing to construct five homes on the lot, though no development plans other than a subdivided parcel map have been approved.

SMUD also routinely conducts vegetation management work to maintain clearance around power lines and reduce the risk of outages and wildfire.

Drivers traveling through the area are advised to allow additional travel time and follow posted detour signs.
