A garbage truck in Citrus Heights caught fire Monday afternoon, Aug. 31 // Sac Metro Fire District

Sacramento Metro Fire officials say a Tesla wall battery inside a garbage truck in Citrus Heights caught fire Monday afternoon.
The fire broke out just after 3 p.m. near Gardenvine Avenue and Gingerblossom Drive, according to Metro Fire.
The battery ignited trash inside a Republic Services garbage truck causing emergency personnel from Citrus Heights Police and Sac Metro Fire to respond. Garbage crew members had to offload the current load of garbage onto the street in order for fire crews to extinguish it.
Photos shared with The Sentinel show heavy white smoke coming from the back of the garbage truck, while one fire fighter stands atop the truck attempting to extinguish the flames. Another photo shows garbage strewn in the street.
There were no reports of injuries following the incident.
The incident caused temporary road closures in the area.
