Sentinel staff report–
The Citrus Heights City Council on Thursday added four more streets to a list of 14 deteriorated streets already being repaved this year.
The council’s action approved an additional $245,000 to be spent on the city’s 2021 Residential Street Resurfacing Project, bringing the total contract up to just under $2 million. A staff report said the additional streets were able to be added to the contract due to “favorable bids” being received on the initial batch of 14 streets approved in June from repaving.
The new streets added to the list are: Arcaro Court, Peony Court, Oakbridge Court, and Pretty Bush Court.
As previously reported, the project includes installation of wheelchair ramps as necessary to meet ADA requirements, along with various concrete, drainage, and roadway repairs, as well as widening where needed to accommodate traffic safety.
Funding for the project comes almost entirely from SB-1 gas tax funds, with $1.6 million coming from the SB-1 tax and another $80,000 from other gas tax funds. No funding is coming from the city’s General Fund, according to a staff report.
Repaving of streets began last month and is expected to take several month to complete. The original list of 14 streets slated for repaving this year is included below:
- Blowing Wind Way
- Carol Avenue
- Celestial Way
- Covewood Court
- Creekmont Way
- Daly Avenue (from Tupelo Drive to Birchglade Way)
- Flaming Arrow Drive
- Forbs Way
- Glass Slipper Way
- Hatfield Court
- Maidstone Way
- Picnic Court
- Scribner Avenue
- Three Sisters Court
