One vehicle was destroyed and two others were damaged in a vehicle fire at the Auburn Oaks Senior Living apartments on Tuesday, spreading a strong stench and black smoke in the air near Sunrise Boulevard and Oak Avenue.
Captain Matt Stuart for Metro Fire said crews responded to the incident after receiving a report of a pallet fire in a vehicle. Upon arrival, crews found one vehicle well-involved in a fire that was expanding to the two vehicles parked on either side, Stuart said.
No injuries were reported. A boy at the scene who did not want to be identified told The Sentinel that he called 911 when he saw the flames.
The vehicles were parked in the back of the apartment complex, and trees above the vehicles showed signs of heat and fire damage. Crews were able to extinguish the flames within minutes, Stuart said.
The cause of the fire is undetermined.
