The Citrus Heights City Council on Wednesday will be asked to approve several construction contracts and a memorandum of understanding and to approve grant funding and ordinance updates. The next City Council meeting will be held May 14 at 6 p.m., with a special council meeting to be held at 5 p.m. at Citrus Heights City Hall.
Special Council Meeting: A special city council meeting is scheduled to take place prior to the intended regular city council meeting at 5 p.m., according to the agenda packet released May 9. The special council meeting is being held to discuss an appeal to a notice of hearing decision and order of abatement for a property located at 8240 Old Auburn Road in Citrus Heights.
Consent Calendar: The City Council will be asked Wednesday to approve a Quarterly Treasury Report along with several construction contracts, including
- An amendment to an on-call median fence repair services contract already in existence for Auburn Boulevard at Greenback Lane. The amendment is a request for an increase of the total not-to-exceed amount of repair costs from $106,000 to $200,000. This is due to the increased amount of repair service requests, collisions, and higher materials costs.
- A contract with CWE for the Creek Erosion and Bridge Scour Protection project for an amount not to exceed $449,713. The project will be paid for spanning multiple fiscal years from budgeted stormwater funds (Fund 209), the city said in a staff report.
- A contract with Molokai Electric, LLC, for the remodel project of the Police Department Emergency Communications Center for a total cost of $309,000.
Items on the consent calendar are voted on together as a block and will not include a staff presentation unless individual items are pulled by council members prior to the vote.
2024 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant: The city council will be asked to accept funding expenditures for the 2024 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant in the amount of $21,318. The fiscal year 2024 funds must be expended by September 30, 2025. The grant funding will be utilized to purchase radios for field use by the Citrus Heights Police Department.
Memorandum of Understanding: The City Council will be asked to approve a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Sacramento Transportation Authority (STA) regarding coordination of State Transportation Improvement Program funding applications for Sacramento County.
The proposed MOU is intended to allow STA member agencies within Sacramento County to coordinate a “collectively beneficial partnership approach” to the Sacramento Council of Governments’ Four County State Transportation Improvement Program funding. Through the partnership, member agencies will be able to increase predictability in how much funding will be available each funding cycle.
Ordinance amendments: The City Council will be asked to approve ordinance amendments to address a typographical error recently discovered in a section of the Citrus Heights Municipal Code regarding short-term rental business licenses. The council is not reconsidering the item; rather, this is strictly an “administrative cleanup,” the city said in its staff report.
If Council passes this motion, the proposed ordinance will be scheduled for second reading and adoption at the Council meeting on May 28, 2025, with an effective date 30 days thereafter.
