A coordinated law enforcement response led to the arrest of one suspect following an armed robbery in Citrus Heights on Saturday afternoon, underscoring the impact of real-time technology and regional collaboration, officials said.
At 2:45 p.m., Citrus Heights Police officers responded to reports of an armed robbery involving multiple victims at a business in the 6400 block of Sunrise Boulevard. A firearm was used during the incident, and two suspects fled the scene in a vehicle, according to a social media post made by the department Saturday evening.
Within five minutes of the robbery, the department’s Real Time Information Center operator located the suspect vehicle as it “drove erratically through the city.”
With the help of real time tracking technology, operators were able to provide ongoing intelligence to officers within Citrus Heights, Sacramento County and to allied air units.
As the suspect vehicle entered Sacramento County, Sheriff deputies were already staged in anticipation, officials said. Deputies attempted a felony stop, which led to a brief pursuit that ended when the vehicle crashed into an embankment near Hillsdale Boulevard and Greenholme Drive, adjacent to an apartment complex. Two suspects fled the scene on foot.
A Sheriff’s deputy quickly apprehended the driver, identified as 26-year-old Clifton Kidd. Kidd was found to be wanted on a no-bail felony Post-Release Community Supervision (PRCS) warrant and has prior convictions related to being an armed felon.
The passenger remains outstanding and is wanted in connection with the armed robbery. The investigation remains ongoing and investigators are processing evidence recovered at the scene and analyzing digital evidence, air-unit observations, and RTIC-supported intelligence gathered throughout the incident, authorities said.
Authorities emphasized that the successful arrest reflects strong regional teamwork and coordination. CHPD expressed gratitude to partnering agencies.
Anyone with information regarding the outstanding suspect is encouraged to contact Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers. Tips can be submitted anonymously, and information leading to an arrest may be eligible for a cash reward.
